Ariel Lanyi, piano

"...Lanyi is no showman. He shines with technical perfection, a subtle exploration of the works' subtext, and always has the proverbial draw to the goal. But - as Buchbinder rightly emphasizes - without any hint of vanity or self-promotion. Here rises a new star in the musical sky."

Peter Jarolin / Kurier / June 2023

Programme

Schubert - Sonata in G major, D. 894

Chopin -
Polonaise-Fantaisie, Op. 61

Reger -  Variations and Fugue on a Theme by Bach, Op. 81

The festival celebrates the third year of its relationship with the Leeds International Piano Competition in the company of prize winner Ariel Lanyi. In addition to his success in Leeds, Ariel was awarded the Prix Serdangin 2023, a prize awarded by the distinguished Austrian pianist Rudolf Buchbinder, an unsolicited recognition of a young pianist’s achievements and an investment in their future.

His programme includes music by Chopin, Schubert’s Fantasie Sonata and folk song setting by Bartok composed in his recognisably energetic and characterful style.
