Three YCAT Artists have been announced as recipients of a prestigious 2024 Borletti-Buitoni Trust Fellowship!

The Borletti-Buitoni Trust helps outstanding young musicians to develop and sustain international careers with awards that fund tailor-made projects. Awards are announced every other year in March to mark the birthday of Franco Buitoni (1934-2016), co-founder of BBT with his wife Ilaria Borletti Buitoni.

.

This year's recipients include:

Jonathan Leibovitz - clarinet (joint artist with Concert Artists Guild)

Hana Chang - violin (joint artist with Concert Artists Guild)

Will Duerden - double bass

.

All winners are given a budget and they are invited to suggest how they want to spend the money. There are no set criteria: winners are encouraged to be creative and to use their awards in a way that will help to establish and build their careers. This year, discussions are already ongoing regarding these projects, which span from commissioning and recording to presenting music across genres and audiences. Alongside this, artists receive a high profile and promotion via the BBT website, news and e-newsletters.

.

BBT Fellowships are usually awarded to artists or ensembles who are at an earlier stage of their careers and the Trust hopes their BBT budget will help develop their future potential.

The Borletti-Buitoni Trust supports both outstanding young musicians and charitable organisations that help the underprivileged and disadvantaged through music (BBT Communities). Whether developing and sustaining young artists’ international careers, or bringing the joy of music to new communities, the Trust provides invaluable assistance and encouragement.

.

We're enormously proud of the YCAT Artists that have been selected this year and can't wait to see their projects come to fruition!
