Timothy Ridout has won the Royal Philharmonic Society Allianz Prize for solo viola

13th November 2019

The RPS Allianz Instrumentalist Prize is a £2,500 cash prize awarded to an outstanding solo instrumentalist. The purpose of the Prize is to support the recipient’s performance opportunities and career development.

As winner of the 2019 RPS Allianz Instrumentalist Prize, Timothy will be the RPS’s viola advocate, actively inspiring others of the viola’s worth over the course of the year. His advocacy extends above and beyond performing on the concert platform. Timothy will fulfil this role both as a mentor for the next generation of viola players and also through creating digital content for the viola to reach and engage a wider audience.
